The novel Coronavirus (christened COVID-19) has been with us for almost 6 months now, and in its wake, it has destroyed economies, businesses and even lives.

When the virus was first reported in Kenya in March 2020, we were all scared not knowing what to expect after evidence of what it had done in China and in Europe. Nonetheless, countries in Africa and from around the world also started reporting cases soon after, prompting the World Health Organization to declare it a pandemic, because of its global scale and ramifications across all sectors of the world.

However, Kenya and many other countries world over, committed themselves to fight this virus and nipping it in the bud. Face masks and handwashing stations were introduced and launched everywhere. Social distancing saw our schools, gatherings and any other social joints closed down, some opened already, others not yet.

Even as this continued to happen, innovators continued to commit themselves to find ways to protect the general public from getting infected, spreading the virus and or educating them on measures to take to keep themselves and the loved ones safe; and thus led to this innovation by PharmAccess, Maseno University and the County Government of Kisumu.

Luscii App was born, and this below is what it can help you assess from home!

Luscii app

With the corona check, people can easily submit health data via the Luscii app. For example, if they have a cough, are short of breath and have a fever. If a measurement gives cause for concern, the app warns the experts at the control centre. If necessary, experts can then make contact via messaging or telephone.

At the moment, the app only works with modern Android and Apple software. You can download them based on your phone’s operating system as below:

Let’s all stay safe and keep COVID-19 at bay.
