Write for Us
Kisumu Everyday is seeking contributors based in Western Kenya to write about people, businesses, food, fashion, entertainment, health & wellness, politics, governance, education, technology and finance.
If you are interested in writing for us, please contact our editor and send 3 – 4 writing samples to [email protected]. Digital contributors are not monetarily compensated at this time. However, they receive exposure on kisumueveryday.com and Kisumu Everyday’s social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Contributors will also be able to include a bio at the end of their piece that can link to a personal website, business, book and/or personal social media platforms.
All submitted posts must be original content written exclusively for Kisumu Everyday. Contributors have the option to publish their post on their personal site five days after it is published on kisumueveryday.com. The post must indicate that the piece originally ran on kisumueveryday.com and include a link to the original post on kisumueveryday.com.
Word Count: The word count range is 700-1,000 words. The word count can be lower for recipes and fashion stories.
Photos: All photos must be high resolution, include captions and include who took the photos. If you are submitting a photo, you did not take, you must have the photographers written consent to publish it on Kisumu Everyday Online Magazine for free. Otherwise, photos must be royalty-free.
Pitches: Please pitch any ideas to our editor at [email protected]. Stories must be pitched by the 15th of each month for the following month. For example, a story running in February on local Valentine’s Day date ideas should be pitched by Jan. 15.
Deadline: Submissions are due by the 1st of each month for the month that it is scheduled to run. For example, a story running in February is due Feb. 1.
