Today is the day that marks the beginning of agricultural goods export from the Kisumu International Aiport.

The developments you see here today will energize boundless opportunities of horticultural, fisheries and meat products from the region by opening up new markets for farmers.
The first official flight departs this evening, the airline is set to offer twice-weekly flights offering 6,000kgs of capacity each week, primarily serving the horticulture & fish industry.
Local & International investors are attracted to Kisumu International Airport due to its multi-modal transportation capabilities & proximity to the Kisumu Port, the ICD & the modern road network.
Kisumu Port is a special purpose vehicle tasked with exploiting the Blue Economy opportunities, enhancing tourism, trade and attracting investors for key developments at the lakefront.
Commodities that have been targeted for the export market include avocados, fish, chillies, pepper, mangoes, pineapples, peanuts, traditional green vegetables and organic beef.
Due to its strategic regional positioning, Kisumu is poised to trigger & attract massive trade & business investments that will stimulate the growth of the regional economies around the great lakes and its environs.
Being cognizant of the fact that Air cargo is an integral component of the aviation industry, KAA came up with the Air Cargo Strategy 2019-2022 whose goal is to improve its cargo handling capacity.
The establishment of a Cargo village at the Kisumu International Airport will unite cargo airlines, freight forwarders, farmers, fish traders and airports to identity opportunities, generate new business and add additional frequencies into the market.
The expansion of the Kisumu International Airport is an essential element for the development of the region and county as it gives hope to farmers and fishermen in the area.
There is a need to rethink agricultural policies from subsistence farming and establish a roadmap towards long-term agricultural production. – Governor
