Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially coming to a close with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)! The film is a sequel to Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame. It is the thirtieth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fourteenth and final instalment of Phase Four.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever leaves the care of Wakanda in the hands of the nation’s most powerful women, including the Queen Mother of Wakanda, Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o, Okoye (Danai Gurira), and Shuri (Letitia Wright) after the passing of King T’Challa, the former Black Panther.

In the first Black Panther, the role of the lead protagonist was played by Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away due to colon cancer in 2020.

Marvel decided not to recast the position, and as such, director/writer Ryan Coogler and Marvel Studios re-crafted the script to reflect his passing and adjusted the story. The mantle of Black Panther will likely be handed off to one of the female leads in the story, though this surprise will be left up to the film to reveal.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will also herald the arrival of Ironheart and marks the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fourth phase.

The Dora Milaje – Wakanda Forever

With the sequel to the beloved film promising to pay tribute to the tragic passing of T’Challa actor Chadwick Boseman, Wakanda Forever is expected to be an emotionally resonant entry to the expanding franchise.

In Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.

As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.

Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livanalli.
