President Kenyatta Opens the Dada EPZ Garments Factory in Kisumu

Dada EPZ Limited has opened an export processing zone, EPZ in Riat, Kisumu West Sub County.

The EPZ will be the first in Kisumu County to engage in the manufacture of garments for the export market creating over 3,000 job opportunities for the local communities.

This is coming from the backdrop of a two-decade defunct KICOMI that was instrumental in the manufacture of garments in Kisumu, which also led to the death of cotton farming. Kisumu and the region have a very favourable climate for the growth of cotton and the manufacture of clothes both for the local market as well as the export market.

Ms Benta Mwalo (the proprietor) began as a small mitumba trader at Gikomba, Nairobi moved to Kisumuto set up this private textile garment-making.

Great step towards job creation and economic empowerment of the local communities.
