Governor Nyong’o Opens KEDA Ceramics Factory in Miwani
Today, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o presided over the official opening of KEDA Ceramics International Miwani Factory.
KEDA (Kenya) Ceramics International Co. Ltd is the second ceramic project in Kenya, as a Joint Venture incorporated in 2016 by KEDA CLEAN ENERGY and SUNDA INTERNATIONAL.
The factory is situated in Miwani ward on a 150 acres piece of land. Upon completion, the plant is expected to have ceramics tiles, sanitary ware production lines and Fast moving consumer goods ( FMCG ) industrial park with an initial investment of around 50 million USD and is expected to reach up to 160 million USD.
So far the plant has created over 800 direct employment opportunities with more expected to be employed and at least 3000 indirect jobs.
The plant’s tiles’ brand name “Twyford” is now available in our local stores with the excess being exported to the neighbouring EAC countries.
Tiles expected daily output ;
- Phase 1 production of 40,000 metric cubes
- Phase 2 production of 25,000 metric cubes and
- Phase 3 production of 20,000 metric cubes
- All will produce more than 30 million metric cubes/year.
