Kisumu Lakeside basketball club will play two home premier league matches this weekend. They will take on Eldonets tomorrow, Saturday the 18th of February, tipping off at 1 pm at the Kisumu Sportsground courts.

The second match up will be against military side Ulinzi Warriors next day Sunday with tip off time and venue remaining the same.

Both matches are not what you may call easy, or predictable. The last time Eldonets were here last season, they netted a surprise win, stunned both fans and players. The Eldoret-based side is unpredictable and will be a good challenge.

Ulinzi’s last league tie here ended in defeat for them in a closely contested match.

Ulinzi versus Lakeside is always a nail biter and this weekend’s will definitely not be any different. There’s also the small matter of last season’s playoff complaint that Lakeside lodged against the Warriors, and won, but never got to be executed as had been directed by the arbiters, the SDT (Sports Disputes Tribunal). You can be sure of sparks in this one.

Lakeside need at least 2 wins (and pray other teams result play out favorably) out of their remaining 5 league matches to secure a post season spot. They’re currently 8th on the standings, the last position for a playoff berth. The boys can play great and have a double delight with this weekend’s home games, literally be home and dry. It’s everything to fight for.

For the fans, these are the kind of games you never want to miss out on. Season making games that bring out the best in players, and bring out the loudest cheers in you. See you courtside.
