Kisumu’s Lakeside Basketball Club left it very late to stage a massive 4th quarter comeback and upset Eldonets 57-52 at the Kisumu Sportsground.

The 1 pm tip off game started with Eldonets getting off the stops to a flying start, taking the 1st quarter with a 10-16 scoreline, then the 2nd quarter by 23-29.

The home side seemed to struggle in their set plays and gifted the visitors some easy points, not to take away Eldonet’s grit and skills.

Lakeside came back from the halftime break and bit by bit started to claw back the points deficit, making it a see-saw matchup, but it was not enough to get them the 3rd quarter as the Eldonets yet again came tops at 11-14.

It was in the 4th quarter that the game took a drastic turn, with Lakeside fighting for every possession and making crucial shots that threw the game wide open. They deservedly tool the 4th with a massive 23-9 stunner that left Eldonets shell shocked under the scorching Kisumu sun.

Match ended 57-52 in favor of the hosts. This was a game of mental and physical toughness and the boys in green showed they wanted it more, and took it in front of a supportive, psyched up home crowd.

First of two this weekend is in the bag for Lakeside. Next up is another nail biter tomorrow versus Ulinzi Warriors, tipping off at 1 pm at the same venue. This is one of those match ups you look forward to from season kick off. See you courtside.
