Some things are almost synonymous with Kisumu, you hear or read of Kisumu, and they pop into your mind, in vivid colors like Christmas lights. Fresh fish, heavenly endowed ladies, world-known freshwater lake (Sango, Lolwe, Lake Victoria), carefree fun attitude, and expensive, sleek automobiles.

Now, in the natural progression of things, it’s only expected that these should be flaunted, regaled, and celebrated as beautiful features of this blessed land. Indeed, some have been and continue to be given their deserving shine time in the spotlight in flowery fanfares and platforms. We have the ever-exuberant annual Kisumu Plus Size Fashion show for our beautiful buxom ladies; God bless them…..

Festivals

There are lake festivals to celebrate Lolwe/Sango and its flourishing ecosystem. Fish eateries do wonderful culinary sets daily to give residents of the city and visitors alike a taste of our staple diet. I think there’s also something that parades the carefree fun side of us, no? Okay, not so sure.

I’m sure Kisumu has never had a street edition motor show, and I feel we need one. I’d love to see one.

A car show will be a spectacle worth this city’s reputation.

A show of muscle cars, smooth, sporty rides, classy vintages, powerful V8s, exquisite statement models, modified racers or off-roaders, and everything else in between.

Kisumu Car Show

Why, in the name of all that is glitzy, unique, fast, and/or powerful, shouldn’t this happen even once a year? It’ll be a super get-your-toy-out-to-strut day for those who have rides and a nice eye candy fest for us carless car enthusiasts.

Man enough of those dreamy, nicely shot foreign motor videos we see daily online; let’s get this here in our streets and shoot some of our own flicks for the interwebs while at it.

The staging choices are plenty. It can be a atreet show, a beach set up, an open public space in town or a mixture of any of these.

Participants will definitely come from Kisumu, around Kisumu and even from far away cities like Nairobi that have good numbers of joKisumo. It’ll be a local tourism event that’ll sell the flashy, speedy side of the lakeside city regionally and even globally. All it needs is like minds, goodwill, good planning, packaging, hype, addons and vroom!!!

Welcome to Kisumu Top Rides Show….

Just give us a show, even if it’ll have some cars whose names we can’t pronounce properly, it’ll be one event worth having in a bucket list. As long as no one blasts from their stereo that classic Boomba Clan hit from back in the day “do not touch my caaaaar, omera who are youuuu….!
