Capacity Building workshop for CSOs on Budget Analysis, Tracking, Monitoring and Advocacy in Kisumu County
Today, the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Kisumu convened at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel for a community action forum whose main aim was to sensitize members on disability inclusive employment, creation on disability friendly environment, harmonization of National and County performance management framework under the new constitution among other key topics.
The CSOs were encouraged to effectively participate, advocate and monitor the allocation and disbursement of county budgets such as the Sexual Reproductive Health budgets.
Mr. Victor Odanga in his address said, “For structured advocacy, there is need to have targeted objectives that aim at the relevant duty bearer.”
He farther reiterated that understanding the structures of government is an important key in determining the starting point of proper budget advocacy, therefore, CSOs need to be conversant with the government structures and the Public Financial Management Act.
The workshop was attended by local organizations such as Great Daughters of Nyakach, MeTa Kenya, Innovation to Inclusion, TINADA Organization and Jijenge Youth Organization.
