As part of its commitment to supporting local communities, Carrefour, operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Kenya, distributed a range of products including foodstuff, beddings, and sanitary towels to New Hope Children’s Home in Kawangware.

Led by staff at Carrefour Galleria, the retailer donated items worth KES.500,000 as part of its ‘Round Up Your Bill’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Through the initiative that is in place in all Carrefour stores, customers can volunteer to round up their shopping bill by a few shillings and donate the extra amount towards building local communities.

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director, East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, commented:

“We remain grateful to our customers who have continued to support this initiative to put a smile on the faces of underprivileged communities. Our donation will ensure these children have food and proper bedding, especially during the cold season.

This initiative is a testament to our ongoing CSR outreach that showcases Carrefour’s commitment towards community welfare.”

The New Hope Children Organisation houses 36 children in a temporary shelter in Kawangware.

Currently, Nairobi is home to 15 Carrefour supermarkets and hypermarkets including the Hub, the Village Market, Galleria Shopping Mall, the Sarit Centre, the Junction Mall, Thika Road Mall, Two Rivers Mall, and Southfields Mall.

The supermarket chain also has a presence in Kisumu at the United Mall and Mega Plaza and in the coastal region at City Mall in Nyali and Center Point Mall in Diani.
